Woman dies following crash involving BMW and truck on A66
A woman in her 50s died at the scene of the crash near Boldron
A woman has died following a crash involving a truck and a car. Durham Constabulary has confirmed a 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the collision.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 7.15am on Monday, February 2, on the westbound carriageway of the A66, close to Boldron, east of Bowes, after reports of a collision involving a Renault truck and a BMW car.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics and emergency crews, the BMW driver, a woman aged in her 50s, died at the scene. Her next of kin have been notified and are receiving support from specially trained officers
Durham Constabulary thanked the several members of the public who stopped at the scene and tried to help – their efforts were much appreciated by all those involved in the response.
The truck driver, aged 29, has been arrested in connection with the incident. He remains in police custody where he is assisting officers with their investigation.
